Anne-Sophie Berting2002
I’m a bookbinder and graphic designer currently studying at ArtEZ University of the Arts. I’m particularly interested in book design, printed matter, archiving, bookbinding and have a deep passion for traditional crafts. I
enjoy a collaborative creative process. My work is driven by a commitment to craftsmanship, with a keen eye for detail, colour combinations and clarity of design. Whether it’s crafting custom books, designing layouts, or preserving the beauty of traditional techniques, my goal is always to produce work that is both functional and visually compelling.

A set of 29 pictures that explore the relation between abstract art and nature.
The 29 photographs were inspired by contemporary color-field paintings from the abstract art movement, combined with the documenting process of biology field research. The colour fields were archived by using coloured paper which eludes to the way plants are documented in scientific research. By using the coloured sheets as a background for the flora a play between the abstract and natural was created. The depth of the flora and the overlapping of shadows resulted in a photograph that looks like you could almost reach into it and smell the flowers.
The photographs were printed on semi-transparent paper to layer shapes and colours. All photo’s are sized so the coloured sheet is in its original A4 format. The cover, title page and colophon are screenprinted in white. The cover design is based on the semi-transparency of the paper resulting in layered shapes of the flora.
