Anne-Sophie Berting
2002

I’m a bookbinder and graphic designer currently studying at ArtEZ University of the Arts. I’m particularly interested in book design, printed matter, archiving, bookbinding and have a deep passion for traditional crafts. I enjoy a collaborative creative process. My work is driven by a commitment to craftsmanship, with a keen eye for detail, colour combinations and clarity of design. Whether it’s crafting custom books, designing layouts, or preserving the beauty of traditional techniques, my goal is always to produce work that is both functional and visually compelling.

BINDING: Anne-Sophie Berting
PAPER: Munken Pure 120gsm
DIMENSIONS:
MATERIAL: leather, cotton, acrylic paint

A french binding of the novel Sonny Boy. Made as an exam piece for my studies at VOHB under the guidance of Judith van Daal. The binding is made in half leather goatskin, hand-coloured to match the cover and endpapers. The top edge of the book is coloured using acrylic paint to match the overall colour-scheme of the binding. The hand-sewn headbands are also matched to the colours of the cyanotype cover. The binding is housed in a linnen clamshell box lined with Caslon paper.
