I’m a bookbinder and graphic designer currently studying at ArtEZ University of the Arts. I’m particularly interested in book design, printed matter, archiving, bookbinding and have a deep passion for traditional crafts. I enjoy a collaborative creative process. My work is driven by a commitment to craftsmanship, with a keen eye for detail, colour combinations and clarity of design. Whether it’s crafting custom books, designing layouts, or preserving the beauty of traditional techniques, my goal is always to produce work that is both functional and visually compelling.

German binding II

DATE: June 2024
BINDING: Anne-Sophie Berting
PAPER: (Unknown)
DIMENSIONS:
MATERIAL: Parchment, cotton, acrylic paint
A German binding of the book Fleischman on Punchcutting. Made as an exam piece for my studies at VOHB under the guidance of Judith van Daal. The binding is made in full parchment featuring an image of two hands using a composing stick on the cover. The top edge of the book is colored using acrylic paint to match the marbled endpapers. This marbled paper is also used on the slipcase made to house the book. The handsewn headbands are also color-matched with the marbled paper.
